Joe Okonkwo's novel Jazz Moon won the Edmund White Award for debut fiction and was a Lambda Literary finalist. His short stories have appeared in Best Gay Stories 2015, Cooper Street, and The New Engagement. His story "Cleo" was nominated for a Pushcart prize. Joe serves as prose editor for Newtown Literary and teaches creative writing at Gotham Writers Workshop. He is currently working on a story collection.
