David Mills is the author of two books, The Dream Detective (a small-press bestseller) and The Sudden Country, a 2012 book finalist for the Main Street Rag Prize. He is the subject of the documentary Freak the Language, and has had two poems featured on ESPN. He lived for three years in Langston Hughes' landmark Harlem home and performs a one-person show of Hughes' work. He received a poetry fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts and an MFA from Warren Wilson College. His poems have appeared in Ploughshares, Jubilat, Callaloo and Brooklyn Rail, to name a few.

William Shunn is a writer and storyteller who was born in Los Angeles, raised in Utah, expelled from Canada, and now lives in Astoria, Queens. He is the author, most recently, of the memoir The Accidental Terrorist: Confessions of a Reluctant Missionary. He hosts and produces the Line Break Reading Series.

Bill's short fiction has appeared in Salon, Storyteller, Bloodstone Review, Newtown Literary, Asimov's Science Fiction, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Science Fiction Age, Realms of Fantasy, Electric Velocipede, and various anthologies, including year's-best collections. His work has been nominated for the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, and the Association for Mormon Letters Award. He served three years as a national juror for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and for another three years he hosted and produced the acclaimed Tuesday Funk literary reading series in Chicago.

Bill's storytelling was featured most recently at the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, CA, he made an appearance in Michael Ian's Black newest comedy special, Noted Expert, and he'll soon be heard on the Modern Stories Mix podcast. Visit him online at shunn.net.

Nancy Hightower has published work in Entropy, Sundog Lit, Gargoyle, Flapperhouse, and Huffington Post, among other places. Dina Laura is thrilled to be participating in Line Break! An actor as well as a writer, she has performed in productions including You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, City of Angels and Schoolhouse Rock Live!, and also originated roles in shows including Eighty-Three Years, Jacob and Sarah, Somewhere in Texas and This Esther. Dina co-wrote her first full-length play, on the rocks, with Mina Radhakrishnan. The play won the "Best Audience" award at the 2008 Downtown Urban Theater Festival at the Cherry Lane Studio Theater, and subsequently premiered on the West Coast at Studio250 @ Off-Market Theaters in San Francisco. Other plays written by Dina include Alternate Side Street Parking (HERE Arts Center, 2009 Downtown Urban Theater Festival), and Making Moves (Theater for the New City, 2010 Downtown Urban Theater Festival).

Her latest play, Elephants and Other Worldly Dilemmas, was one of the 2012 top ten finalists in the Stage Play category of the 81st Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition. Elephants and Other Worldly Dilemmas then went on to win FringeFAVE at the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival.

For three years now, the Queens Lit Fest has highlighted the incredible talent and diversity of writers in this greatest of New York City's boroughs. Line Break host William Shunn participated last year, and he's delighted to be doing so again this year.

The Queens Lit Fest 2017 runs for two full days this weekend at LIC Landing in Long Island City. Admission for both days is free but does require an RSVP.

Bill will be reading promptly at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening, but don't come just for him. Come for an afternoon, evening, or all day to hear a wide array of Queens poets, essayists, storytellers, and more, including Line Break veterans like Emily Alta Hockaday, Jackie Sherbow, and Audrey Dimola.
